LCCE Welcomes Two New Members with its Next Season Concert

Brilliant Palette, the next concert in the 2016–2017 season of the Left Coast Chamber Ensemble (LCCE), was programmed to celebrate the addition of two new members, soprano Nikki Einfeld and percussionist Loren Mach, both of whom have appeared as guest artists in past performances. Each of them will be featured in three of the works on the program, and one of those compositions will feature both of them. That shared performance will be George Crumb’s first book of madrigals, scored for soprano, bass, and vibraphone. Michel Taddei will join Einfeld and Mach to take the bass part. The book itself consists of three settings of poems by Federico García Lorca.

Einfeld will both open and close the program for the evening singing with string quartet and piano. She will begin with Ernest Chausson’s Opus 37 “Chanson Perpétuelle” and conclude with Gabriel Fauré’s “La Bonne Chanson.” Mach will take a vibraphone solo in performing Martin Matalon’s “Short Stories.” He will also perform Caroline Shaw’s “Boris Kerner,” scored for cello and flower pots.

The San Francisco performance of Brilliant Palette will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, December 5. The venue will be the Dennis Gallagher Arts Pavilion, located at 66 Page Street, a short walk from the Van Ness Muni station. Tickets will be sold at the door for $35 for general admission and $18 for those under the age of 35. However, if tickets are purchased in advance from a Vendini event page, general admission will be $30 with a $15 charge for those under the age of 35.
